It's a strange thing.
This word.
Gambling.

It has different meanings to different people.
And different countries.
Or continents.

I can remember the rucus when the Olympics in China was held.
How the Chinese cracked down on citizens betting on certain games.
Or all games.

Still some found ways to do it.

Where I live we have a strange balance.
Australia.

TAB. Mainly for hoarse racing.
Lotto, very popular here.
Ohh, we have a race every year that literally stops the nation.
It's called the Melbourne Cup. Again a hoarse race.
We invented a game called Two Up.
Two coins are throw up.
And you wager what the out come may be.
HH, TT, HT or whatever.

The whole nation likes to have a go.
At placing a bet on something.

Even c***roaches are bet on.
Yet at the same time all this betting is going on.
You have religious interest groups trying to dissuade from it.
However these same groups, use raffle tickets so you can win a prize.
And they raise money. Is there a difference?

Hypocrites.

Pokie machines are in many pubs and clubs around here now.
They are sort of your one arm bandits that are popular in the US casinos.

Since these machines have come in.
The service, the decor, the food, the refurbishment of many of the establishments has improved dramatically.

Yet we have one or two lone voices that get heard.
That wish to limit the amount of the machines in each establishment.

Only place that is allowed to exceed any of these conditions.
Is the casino.

And their is nearly one in every state.

As for online gambling.
Many of the established things are already well entrenched online.
From TAB sports betting to many others.

I am very fortunate to be able to open accounts with any casino in any country.
There may be a few that wont accept me.
888.com wont accept Australians any more.
But that is also dependant on what you want to play.
Weird...
They will accept you for other online games.
Like poker.

Same may be true for BetFair.
I recall trying to get a betfair account to go play roulette.
NOPE...

No go.

As for the US.

Hmmmmm,,,

Who knows when that will happen.

Europeans could not care less.
You can gamble on anything.

I just find it odd.
If you have a hoarse race.
In shanghai.
Or where ever.
The locals can place a bet on the hoarse to win.
But they are not allowed to bet on anything else?

Odd...

But that is the world we live in.
