First, im not trying to sell anything & it isnt clickbait. Its all free searchable info. Just mentioning this as we get this a lot on this forum.

Been big all my life & tried all kinda of diets & even volunteed to test a new meds that my doctor suggest, but nothing worked. Untill last juli i discovered Keto & Intermittent Fasting (omad) & have lost 60,4 kgs since then.  So this low carb diet clearly works.

But why does it work? Finally found the answer. Turns out its a natural mechanic in animals (and us) that signal that "winter is coming = store fat". Turns out that high Fructose levels (not just from fruit, but is also made from high salt & carb in your body) triggers the "winter". Cant skip the salt as high salt signals dehydration = water/fat weight gain also. So you want skip the carbs alone but keep fat & salt high. So beware of coffee & similar dosnt hydrate you.

There is a video on YT that expains it called:
"STOP Gaining Fat and How You Can Turn FAT STORAGE Off | Dr. Rick Johnson on Health Theory"

Felt like sharing, because it feels importent to know.

First of all great job for losing that weight.
I have done any kind of diet anyone can imagine as a fitness freak and i have to say a few things about it.
Carbohydrates are not bad but it is very easy to digest so it is very easy to overeat them.
Also most of the fake foods we did not have 40 years ago is basically sugar and fat.
Fat is not bad as well and protein without a doubt is the king.

It is easier to lose weight on a Keto diet because we feel more full comparing to eat many carbs.
But if you train hard or you do a high activity sport carbs are much more helpful than fats.
Everyone has his/her own opinion on the subject but one thing is for sure.
When you eat real food you can try different types of diets and you will find the best for yourself.

Also if you have not tried yet, try a 24hr fast.
Intermittent fasting in my opinion does not help because at the end of the day is calories in calories out..
Fastest way to lose weight is water fasting for 2-3 days 4th day 500kcal meal and again.

Thanatos

Thanks, i appreciate that.
I agree that both carbs & fats arnt "the villain" here. Especially as we are all individuals & have different intorances & digestion etc. No diet fits everyone that is for sure. Some people loose great weight going vegetarian while others choose to go full meat eating carnivor because they discover that inflamtation & other sickness goes away.

If there is one suggestion i can give people its to always try search for the answers/diet/cure themselves. Because at no point in my life has any of my 2 doctors mentioned carbs. Seriously i got rejected for military duty because the doctor took one look at my tiiiny stomach back then & immediately rejected me. Weird because i has basicly been a "oatmeal & skimmed milk" person since childhood. Followed all the guidelines, food pyramid etc. Doctor has send me on all kinds of diets, even been on a 2 year test meds. Even suggest stomach surgery a couple of times. Then i go online i get the "have you tried Keto &  Fasting?" & i loose like 14 kgs in 2 month. So i go to my doctor & his is like "yes that may work, please continue"? I do understand he isnt allowed to suggest diets that isnt "goverment approved" himslef, but still jeezz.

Also you are right about not being truly hungry when you are on Keto, that certainly surpriced me as well. Started of slowly with the fasting of cause, just skipping breakfast. Then slowly started moving it another hour, & a month later i was eating once a day (omad) & oddly dont have any craving during the fasting. i understand its the fatty foods you eat on Keto that makes you feel full longer. I mean yes i can get the one rare "pang" of sudden hunger every 7 days or so, usually in the early morning but it goes away with a glass of water.

Also no doubt you are right about the real/whole food (aka non-factory produced). I definately try to stay as basic food as possible when eating.

Oh and i will definately keep the 24h+ fasting in mind, other people has also mentioned it as well. At the moment im still loosing a good 1 kgs a week just doing the keto/Omad combo but it has certainly slowed down a bit & no doubt i will hit a "wall" at some point. But also for the possible other benefits of longer fasting of cause, like breaking down old damaged cells & creating new fresh ones. Also some interesting theories about longevity supported by stats like sicilian sheep/goat hearders in the mountains who fast a lot & eats/drinks sheep/goat cheese/milk (that just happen to have MTC oil in it), in general live 10 years longer than city people & has a lot more uncoupled mitochondria than anyone else. Of cause that is just theory, so many other factors probably count in here like there is probably much less car accidents & pollution in the mountains etc.

That is the power of the internet if we use it the right way we can benefit from it.
I completed a 72hrs water fast yesterday and i am already in deep ketosis state.
Things like age, gender how active we are and how many calories we eat are the most important factors.
Especially calories and activity. I do not like Omad i do not see any benefit there.

If i do not fast i eat as many meals as i want in a day, it does not matter as long as the calorie consumption is good for my goal.
Usually people do this kind of mistakes and they think if they are in keto or Omad or intermittent fasting they can eat as much as they want.
WRONG...
The doctors and big pharma scams are well known to me and i never trust them.
One thing that is very important when you fast more than 48hrs is the electrolytes.

Thanatos

Ah yes the electrolytes, i must remember that.
Oh & yes, for a lean/normal sized person Omad would probably do very little even if combined with Keto. Good job doing the 72h fast as well. ill probably soon reach a point where the longer fasts is the only option.

Keto is also fairly region dependants on how much it does because as i understand one region a loaf of toastbread has 1 gram of sugar & another 6 grams. Off cause cutting carbs always has some effect depending on how sensitive you are to the carbs & how long you have stayed in carb burning mode. i mean in my case i probably hadnt been in fat burning mode/ketosis for 25 years when i startet this diet, and the first week i thankfully didnt get sick but oh boy it was a bit of an "adventure" :)

If you are a big person, "do you like ripping of the bandage fast or slow" is probably also the only difference in small or larger length fasting. Some like to get it done quickly & some like it slowly. I must admit im probably the "slow" kinda of person when i comes to many things. But in the case of loosing weight i was a little bit into "untested waters" & chose to do it the slow safe way. Especially as ive seen someone on tv who had major hanging skin from loosing 50 kgs in 3 month & needed surgery. Doing it the slow way my skin has thankfully been able to at least somewhat tinghten up with the 8 new holes i had to make in my belt (i bought that leather tool to make holes in the other direction, lol). Fasting helping with the skintightening is certainly an importent benefit, because i really dont trust doctors fumbling around with knives anymore. Yikes.

Also im pretty sure i sleep much better now because of the fasting. Probably because i dont eat just before going to bed. According to Dr. Satchin Panda (horribly fake sounding name, but he is the one with the blue light glasses) who had a small time-restricted experiment where the test subjects was only allowed eating between like 8 in the morning 8 at night (but could otherwise eat what they wanted) & they all reported back about sleeping better. Its just a theory he has of cause, but perhaps its not just the brain that needs rest at night but also the rest of the body including stomach. Or it could just be the weight loss of cause :D

If i understand the whole thing about eating 3 times a day is something we as humans invented about 300 years ago & made sense back then as it was about long voyage ship rationing. Before that they ate when they was hungry & could afford it. So perhaps fasting is a more natural state for the body than we think. No doubt mother nature didnt intend us to scarf down things 12 times a day like hobbits.

Woops started ranting again, its indeed amazing what you can find on the internet.

Best thing is to eat when you are really hungry. Most of us when we are bored we eat and this is why there is an obesity epidemic.
If anyone follow these principles will never have a weight problem again. About fasting it is up to any individual how to use it.
Most people think they will fast for 20 days and they will be ripped lol. When they are not ripped they just give up and back to their old bad habbits.

About skin now it depends of many factors but mostly your genetics.
Age is a big factor after genetics and if you carry more than normal muscle mass.
I would advise anyone to lose the weight as fast as possible for better health much faster.

About sleep if you eat light you can eat 10 minutes before bed and have a great sleep but of us do not do that.

Thanatos

Some good advise there, Also good to know about the skin genetics thing, i havnt looked into it a lot, thanks.
