He's a top bloke who spams relevant news. On this issue, good if groups stop expansion of gambling. Gambling only expands the wealthy's pockets. Proper expansion would be using technology to make people's lives easier, not finding another way to take money from working people.

Gambling is one of the few activities in which the devil really is in the details.  That is, once you "lose sight of the forest for the trees", you're headed for some serious long-term financial and emotional troubles.

Most of us just realize, in general terms, that casinos weren't built on the backs of winners. No Santa Claus, or magic wand, on the face of this planet either.  But to a gambler, any gambler, even a so-called advantage-player... all things are immediately possible in the most elaborately-specific of ways.  So specific that none of it ever adds up to anything.

The casinos are there to take everything you have, and as quickly "spit you out" back onto the streets.  And you're supposed to fall in love with "the experience", go away happy about it.  But no card-counter, eg, is ever going to do the SAME TO THEM.  Not with something so passively-miniscule and already-known to all.  May as well be counting on the fingers of your hands while you do it, to really "put the scare into" them, LoL.

The lawmakers call gambling "entertainment". But the reality is most players are trying to make money. You aren't made to play, but for desperate people the dangling carrot is too much. So many casinos have asked me to promote them for commission and I'll never accept.

The article portrays the good guys as "just in the way". When have you ever seen media go against the same people or their associates that own the media company? There is unbiased media, on the internet, but mainly the US is pushing to censor it.

Whenever there is more money to be made, the truth is twisted. Like the example of calling it "entertainment.... with comparatively only a few problem gamblers". It is exploiting people's reliance on money to survive. It is socially irresponsible.

But that's just one part of society that's screwed up. There are even worse areas. Changes are already happening.
