I was wondering how many people are using Bayes excellent stat-meter when designing and testing their systems. It really is a good way to get an idea if a system has promise.
The standard seems to be that if something is rising above a Z-Score of 3.00, then it may be time to start getting a little bit excited.
So I decided to play around with things a bit and see what would be required to reach this figure.
Let's say you are designing a system which covers 12 numbers. They could be 12 individual numbers, a particular dozen, maybe a column. Probability would dictate that you should roughly be hitting 4 winners for every 8 losses. Now let's say that you are hitting 5 winners and 7 losses on average. It would take 240 placed bets achieving this hit rate to end up with a Z-Score of 3.06. This could be an indication that you are on to some thing good.

For another example, suppose you are betting 9 numbers. Here, your average hit rate would be 1/4. But let's suppose you were hitting 1/3 with your particular bet selection. After 204 placed bets, you would have 68 wins and 136 losses. This would give you an excact Z-Score of 3.0. Once again, this could mean you are looking at something good.
This tool could be really helpful for anyone designing systems and really does give you a good idea of the merits of your ideas.
