Thoughts On This System?

I wanted to run a system I've used in the past by the many players and experts on here to see what you all think. I got the idea for it after watching a system tutorial video on YouTube. I'd link the video but it appears to have been removed so I'll have to describe the system instead.

I think it's known as the Follow The Leader Martingale system generally but the guy in the tutorial claimed he invented it, which he of course didn't and also claimed to have worked in casinos all over the world. What he did was he waited for a streak of red, black, red, black, red, or, black, red, black, red, black (so 5 times) and then he'd start to bet on the last colour that hit. He said he had a bankroll of $150 and that he'd bet $10 for his first bet, if he lost that one he'd then double to $20 on the last colour, then if he lost again it'd be $40 next on the last colour and if that lost his final go would be $80 on the last colour that landed. He said he'd only play until he won either $20 or $50 before he'd walk away and then wait for another red/black colour streak before playing again. He also claimed that he won hundreds of dollars playing this way and never once needed to use his $80 bet cause he always won before it got to that.

Now, if you know anything about roulette you'll know there's no way this system can win in the long-run. Sure it might win you some money to begin with but what happens if the red/black colour streak lasts for more than your bankroll allows? You get burned, that's what!

However, after watching his video I thought to myself that this system might have some merit if some much-needed adjustments are made. And after making the necessary adjustments I was able to go an entire year without losing everything before I became bored and cashed out. So here are the adjustments I made:

Instead of playing in a real casino like the YouTube poster recommended, I only played on Playtech's European Roulette RNG game. The reason for this change is because of all the waiting you have to endure in-between spins. This RNG game is far quicker, especially when it has the turbo setting included (which has now sadly been removed).

I had a bankroll that allowed 8 bets instead of just 4. This obviously gave me more steps in the Martingale.

I changed the number of results you have to wait for in a streak from 5 to 14. Yep you read that correctly. Instead of me waiting for a red/black streak which includes only 5 results, I waited for a red/black streak that includes 14 results! In fact the longer you wait, the better! This sounds like a very long wait, and it is, but not as long as it would be if I were not using the RNG game. Also I didn't just wait for a red/black 14 streak before a started to bet, I'd bet if there were an odd/even 14 streak, a high/low 14 streak, a streak of 14 reds, a streak of 14 blacks, a streak of 14 odds, a streak of 14 evens, a streak of 14 lows or a streak of 14 highs. This gave me more chances to play than I'd have if I were just waiting for a red/black streak.

So for example, let's say a streak of 14 reds had just happened, I'd then play the Martingale system as normal but for five steps only and bet the following on black:

Bet One - £10 on black (if red hit again I'd go to bet two).
Bet Two - £20 on black (if red hit again I'd go to bet three).
Bet Three - £40 on black (if red hit again I'd go to bet four).
Bet Four - £80 on black (if red hit again I'd go to bet five).
Bet Five - £160 on black (if red hit again I'd then go to bet six).

Now, if zero were to land during any of those five bets above, instead of me continuing to bet on black I'd simply accept the loss and start again, meaning I'd stop-loss and wait for another 14 streak. The reason for this is simple, the red streak will have finally been broken, but not by black like I'd hoped, by zero, so that could mean another red streak could start again from there and wipe me out. So I think it's best if that happens to just accept the loss and start again. However, if the original red streak were to continue for the full five spins I'd then bet as follows:

Bet Six - £340 on black and £20 on zero (giving me the edge over the house. If red hit again I'd go to bet seven).
Bet Seven - £740 on black and £50 on zero (giving me the edge over the house. If red hit again I'd go to bet eight).
Bet Eight - £1570 on black and £100 on zero.

So if black or zero hit during bets 6, 7 or 8 then I finally win £10 and would then start again and wait for another 14 streak. I never went any higher than bet six iirc.

Now the flaws in this are obvious. (01) If the streak you're betting on/against lasts 22 times in a row then it's game over. Personally I've never seen any more than 19/20 in a row in the RNG game but obviously 22 can happen. I banked on how rare it is for that many to hit in a row though and thankfully it never did. And (02) If you stop-loss when zero hits and zero continues to hit during other bets whilst you're still trying to recoup your previous loss then you could die a slow, painful death. Again thankfully this never happened either.

So enclosing, I set out with this to try and make losing a possibility rather than a probability and I think I pretty-much achieved that. Some days I'd spin the wheel hundreds of times in an hour waiting for a 14 streak and one would never come and I'd just come out even, other times I'd get 3 streaks in an hour and win £30. And of course other times I'd hit zero during bets 1-5 and stop-loss LOL. I'm curious to know what people on here think of this system as I'm thinking of using it again at some point but am wondering if I should just quit while I'm ahead and leave it be?

I like the number 14, it's a good number for roulette systems, but not as good as 42. You should wait for 3 streaks of 14 (that's 42) before betting.

Also. I suspect you've gone completely mad. Try something else, or quit while you're ahead.

I am not saying 42 isn't a good number but the reversal (24) is even better.
After all, two calendar years equals 24 months which is the time you could be waiting to see three 24's.
Also if you add all the numbers on the roulette wheel = 666 and then add an extra 222. That equals 888.
Now what does 888 break down to. 8+8+8=24. If that's not spooky, I don't know what is.

Now if you will allow, I might expand your idea of waiting for 14 even chances in a row. Now beauty here is that you don't have to wait! What if we simply bet against ANY last 14 EC-s, against exact same order? Do you think we might have the same scenario as you described?

If you are into studying EC-s you might look for a member called Bayes. He is not around anymore, but he left many brilliant software tools for us to test, learn and study roulette! It will definitely help you to answer some of your questions and learn how to avoid common misconceptions! It is utterly important to learn them before you can move on!
