From 3 months to a year for U.S. citizens to gamble in New Jersey.

If New Jersey allows it, I'm figuring Nevada will be about 3 months behind it doing the same thing.

Unfortunately you have to reside in that state to be able to gamble online. Delaware is the third state that has approved online gambling.

Didn't the guy that won this years WSOP move to Canada so he could play poker online?

So who is willing to move to DE, NJ or NV so they can gamble online.?

TwoCatSam

That is simply NOT true.

I follow the news on this very carefully.  It is for the entire nation and most probably people in the UK and elsewhere.

Hear me now and believe me later!

Sam...perhaps you can mean it when you hold your hand on your heart and sing "land of the free" during the national anthem.

i find it totally extrodinary that online gambling is banned in US. around 1 in 8 UK adverts on the TV are online gambling related

I hate to say it, but isnt what you are being subject to just communism?

TwoCatSam

Gentlemen

The law is already passed and signed!  It's not a hope any longer.  Now just comes the implementing part.

Turner

It was a raw deal.  We have this crappy system of attaching a "rider" to a bill minutes before it is voted on.  Very few of the legislators knew they were banning gambling.  They were voting for a port authority bill.  A good thing.  They tack a crappy thing onto a good thing and run it by the congress.

Many congressmen stated they would have not voted had they known about it.

It's not communism; it's out and out lying.  What they said was guys like me might launder money to terrorists through on-line casinos.  The truth is that a couple of teenagers got Daddy's credit card and bankrupted the family.  By that line of thinking, just because a teenager got drunk and wrecked the car and killed some people--well, we should ban all cars.

So, we'll see.........

LOL...communism...

And if they allow online gambling it's gonna be absolute monarchism.
:P

that's powerful American casino lobby effort created this ban i think. They know well that people will play less in real casinos if they are allowed to play online. Many trips will be cancelled when samsters can play Dublinbet (especially single zero roulette) at home  instead of driving 200 km or even more to play double zero...

I actually live in this state (yes shoot me now) and from what I am hearing it is to be open to residents of the state. They
are trying to implement this within 3-6 months. The news I am hearing is that it is to be run by the casinos in Atlantic City
as bit of a saviour to the town be pummeled by neighboring states, most notably Pennsylvania which just over took AC
as the #2 gaming market.

With that being said...the news is that in order for you to gamble online you MUST go to a brick and mortar casino in Atlantic City
to open an account and at that point they will verify your age to gamble (21).

As a side note the ruling on Atlantic City casinos getting the sports betting in place and opened up is expected in a week or 2.

You're exactly right!  And Indian casinos are huge here.  They do not want on-line, but when it happens, they want in on it.

Kevin

I heard that, too.  My wife and I would drive to N.J. in a heart beat to register at every casino.  Vegas, too.  We travel anyway, so why not?  Also, some joker (maybe me) would put together a bus trip for fifty or sixty Okies wanting to gamble.  It would be a hoot!

I find that hard to believe, though.  There are many ways to prove who you are and how old you are and what not.  Casinos are not going to want to limit themselves to just those willing to show up in person.

i am not sure it's gonna happen, but what is possible -- in case of online gambling legalization in the States due to
increased competition from online live casinos from overseas some more single zero roulette wheels may be introduced in the US land casinos to attract players. And in case land casinos want to go online they may do it beyond US borders as well.

again, i am not sure it will happen, but i think it's possible.

TwoCatSam

iggiv

It is highly possible.  All it takes is one casino with a 0 wheel and a ten-cent bet to force the others to follow suit.

I was once in a casino in Vegas where there was a single -=0 wheel.  I comment on it and several people playing had no idea what I was talking about.  The one with the tower--can't think of that name to save me!!

Sam...the thing I am not sure about is the taxes.

They are going to tax the hell out of you. I think 15% if not mistaken.

Now is that 15% on every "win" you might have?  Where as in a casino you can win $1199 on a slot or video type roulette and

on tables you simply can escape taxes to all together.  So if they are going to tax every little hit you get then its not for me.
