Here is the next Riddle !

During WWII, there was a bridge connecting Germany and Switzerland, and on the German side, there was a sentry tower with a guard in it. He would come out every three minutes to check on the bridge, and he had orders to turn back anyone who tried to get into Germany, and shoot anyone trying to escape without a pass. There was a woman who desperately needed to get into Switzerland, and she knew she didn't have time to get a pass. It would take her at least six minutes to cross the bridge, but she managed to do it.

How ?

Franz Josef Haydn (1732-1809) is often said to be an Austrian composer but, though he was born in Austria, he was in fact 100% German. Haydn was from a poor background: his mother was a cook and his father was a wheelwright.

Here is the next Riddle !

Can you find the numbers A,B,C, and D so that the following works?

ABCD x 4 = DCBA

Note: ABCD is a four digit number ,and so is the DCBA (e.g. 9712)

Good Luck !

Well, I have come this far:

A, can only be 1 or 2.

D, must be between 4 and 8.

ABCD x 4 = DCBA

1. abcd < 2500; A must be smaller than 3
2. A = 2, because it cannot be 1 as 4 times 1 is an even number and if we substitute A in the product we have an odd product

2BCD x 4 = DCB2

3. D can be 3(3x4=12) or 8(8x4=32), both ending in 2
3a) assuming D is 3

2BC3 x 4 = 3CB2 ->obviously a number above 2000 multiplied by 4 cannot be equal to a number between 3002 and 3992, so the obvious answer is 8

4. 2BC8 x 4 = 8CB2
now B can be either 1 or 3 or 5 or 7 but B < 5 because 4*25 = 100
So AB = 21 or 23
4a) AB = 23 DC >= 92B2 C = 2 which is not possible as A = 2
AB = 21
5. 21C8 x 4 = 8C12
6. C can be 0,3,4,5,6,7,9

2108 x 4 = 8 432
2138 x 4 = 8 552
2148 x 4 = 8 592
2158 x 4 = 8 632
2168 x 4 = 8 672
2178 x 4 = 8 712 which is the correct answer
