My 18 numbers on Marquee technique requires least progression to win but progression can not be eliminated from the game. The term "mild progression" used by me is the real solution or you may go for my smart progression. Say you take a bet size of of 9 units i.e. 1 unit each on 9 numbers and your selected bet/bets do not hit within four times, what will you do?

and after the hit what have you done?
invested the profit in the new bet?

positive progression will postpone the profit in hope of even larger profit.
both ways is always a race between the time-event (the time you are at a table) and the bankroll.

Not to progress.

(Unless you *really* have to because you *really* know the maximums your progression can withstand and you *really* know your game-plan thwarts dispersion/variance at an enough rate to make your progressive proposition a winning one in average)

You either have a winning strategy or you don't.  The strategy should be a winner with flat betting but in that case progressions can still give you a bit of a boost.  I don't want to have to rely on progressions, but I still like to have them in my arsenal and I manage my bankroll as if I might have to resort to progressions.

If you don't have a winning strategy then you very well may need progressions, a lot of luck and the discipline to get the **** out of the casino while you are ahead.  Or maybe you need a stiff drink, whatever you feel that works.

I would say that 99.99% of roulette players don't have winning strategies, so perhaps progressions are realistically okay.
