Moderating your own threads

Im considering creating a board or forum specifically that allows self moderation, meaning every member can moderate any posts on their own threads.

I need opinions of whether this will be a good or bad idea.

Of course some members will abuse this, and they can have the moderator privellages removed. But normal members will have the final say on what is or isnt allowed on their thread. How does this sound?

For some members, you could even have your entire section and run any ads you want, if you wanted to run ads. But as it is with this forum, the ads would be invisible to logged in members.

ok I think so too. It will solve more problems than it would create. Again members who abuse it could be restricted.

Its too risky to do on this forum because it could damage it, so Ill create an independent one. I have some good ideas for it. Ill look at merging them.

The main thing we need here is indefinite time to edit/update our opening posts.

Falkor if there was unlimited time, spammers would post delayed links everywhere. No matter what there is always potential for abuse, although only from the minority. We can at least give moderation of own threads to longer term members.

Can moderators be moderated?
We may have call to warn someone ( which is rare) and have that deleted.

That part isn't such a good idea. Most members like it here. Imo

Sounds good, I hope you will add the option to delete your own threads too, so you don't have to bother a moderator for that?

A global moderator like you could edit anything. A thread owner could edit anything in their thread, including global moderator posts or even my posts. They would be allowed to do that within reason. Mods and admin would be more like normal users, but with the additional authority to enforce rules accross the whole forum.

There would be reasonable rules, like members arent allowed to edit posts to make it seem like people said things they didnt say. Again it will be abused by some members, but these members would lose their ability to moderate. And only more established members would have the ability in the first place.

If say a member had a thread and deleted anything another member said, they could. That may lead to a competing thread to argue. Eventually the arguing members will learn to mind their own business. People that wanted to discuss something in peace could by banning a member on a thread, but that may need custom coding.

Its kind of a social experiment for me, to figure out a structure where everyone can do their own thing, but still arguing members can co-exist. How much arguing is there on gambling forums? It could be a good test zone for some theories.

Denzie Im looking to merge forums. Im sure it can be done one way or another in a seamless way we all like.

Denial of gamblers fallacy is usually seen in people who has Roulette as last option for a way to wealth, debt covering and a independent lifestyle.  Next step is pretty ugly-
AP - It's not that it can't be done, but rather people don't really have a clue as to the level of fanaticism and outright obsession that it takes to be successful, let alone get to the level where you can take money out of the casinos on a regular basis. Out of 1,000 people that earnestly try, maybe only one will make it.
