Professional gamblers know that when it comes to the game of roulette, the best strategy is the same one that supercomputer Joshua applied to nuclear war in the movie WarGames: “The only way to win is not to play.”

But that didn’t stop a group of chaos theorists from trying to beat it anyway. And according to new research published in the journal Chaos, it looks like they may have found a way to beat the house. They were able to model the motion of the wheel and ball and were able to confirm their predictions both in simulation and using an actual roulette wheel.



“Knowing the initial conditions allows you to beat the odds,” said Michael Small, who carried out the study with Chi Kong Tse, in a press release. “In some cases you can beat them quite significantly.”

I mostly agree with what General writes here. And he just posts data proved theories. Also this time he is not criticizing (at least yet) any user.

Roulette is not random, is chaotic. I think we all know that by now. Systems though PROBABLY won't win in longrun whether if Roulette was Random or Chaotic.

What advantage does this thread and the chaotic nature it gives us though on systems? Do you have anything on your mind? Does this thread made you generate any ideas? Besides AP which you are not fan of.
