There was an eagle insignia on the third zero (probably to trick people into accepting the extra zero by appealing to their patriotism).

As expected, people started losing money badly and the game lost popularity in the makeshift gambling joints in this country. 

The third zero was then quietly dropped by American roulette wheel manufacturers.

Too bad they did not drop the second zero at that time as well !

Like I said, a few years ago we had a 0 & 00 wheel, NEXT TO EACH OTHER mind you. The 00 table was always packed and I sat alone at the 0 table (lol). I feel great not sharing.....with these goofs?

I even dislike the European version with single zero. I prefer nowadays nozero on BV even with commission on winnings.   Or bitcoin games (they can be turned into EC roulette bets easily ) that have  0.1 or 0.01 HE.

If you are playing due to a bias, and playing sectors that will hit more, shouldn't matter if there are 40 pockets and 5 zeros.

For a recreational player it def doesn't matter. But obviously single 0 wheel is best

Hedging...I swear it's the goofiest thing to watch.    Every spin in the US begins with the players splitting the zeros, and then placing a chip on each zero independently.  (As if splitting them isn't enough already.)

And if the zeros hit and they're not on them, look out!  "Oh, I always bet that number!"
