Test the accuracy of your method to predict the winning number. If it works, then your system works. But tests over a few hundred spins tell you nothing.

Attitude Toward New Systems

To all forum members,

Please be flexible and cautious when reading a new system that is posted.

Many of us get an idea for a way to determine bet selection and bet progression and we try it and it works well for a few hundred spins, maybe even a thousand or so, but in the overall scheme of things that's really only the tip of a very large iceberg.

We sometimes like to add a little flair to our presentation of the system.  A little entertainment factor.  Breaks the monotony a little.

Some even act like when they present a system it is above critique and only a simpleton would challenge it in any way.

Believe me, no system published here is guaranteed to be a long term winner.  Some have systems that they feel win on some of the very low house edge roulette wheels, but not all of us have access to these wheels.

Most have been tested at least moderately and have shown that they can win under some if not most sequences.  But as we have all seen multiple times, further testing can find the losing sequences showing that they may work short term, but they're not really what we're looking for long term, and so the quest continues.

No matter how positively a system is presented, test it thoroughly and be convinced in your own mind before you venture to a casino with real money.

For myself, every system I present I have tested at least a few hundred times and feel that with some tweaking and new suggestions, we may, together, create something special.

It's not necessary to criticize a system in a demeaning way.

If you have a negative comment to make or a suggestion, it can be done in a respectful manner.

There are new members reading  and contributing who know little about roulette and there are veterans who have massive data banks full of info who are also reading.

Everyone has to start at the bottom and build spin upon spin.

Let's cut each other some slack and work together.

I don't know for sure, but I think every now and then someone works with a system that may fail the 10,000,000 spin test but they have figured out a way to play it and make a few units on a regular basis.  At least I hope that is the case.

All I ask for is courtesy, the more you give, the more you get.  It is not in limited supply.

I love the general tone of this forum.  I know it is modeled and encouraged by Victor.

I can't think of a more gentlemanly person to  learn from and interact with.  That's why I spend most of my time at this forum over others.

Wishing all of you the very best,

In my case it doesn't matter.  I'm both!

A great post George.
The interesting question for me is how much is it down to the system or the actual operator pulling the strings.
Let's take Lanky as an example. There is a guy who will sit for some pretty long sessions and really grind it out. I remember reading his posts on the old forum and he managed to quadruple his bankroll in a year by adopting a very disciplined approach to his play.
If someone comes along and says they have the best roulette system going and it will make me a millionaire, I am not really interested. Why? Because the flipside of that is that the same system could also lose me a million (wishing I had a spare million to lose  )
On the other hand, if someone says that with a lot of dedication and hard work, I may be able to grind out 20-30 units most sessions, I would be all ears.
I have read many books written by 'so called' professionals and spoke to many 'so called' professionals and the one thing that I look out for is consistency. If enough different people from all walks of life tend to agree on something, then either they are all wrong or they might just be a grain of truth in what they say. The general concensus is that to make 5% on your turnover is brilliant. (this probably means lanky is the greatest gambling guru of all time  8) ) But joking aside, it does show that a lot of people have false expectations of systems like you say. But it is certainly encouraging to know that through patience and desire to do well and not throw it all away, we can achieve good results. This comes from having a more long term approach to things than most gamblers short term 'easy come, easy go' mentality.
So I intend to go down the Lanky route and put as much faith and trust in my own abilities than any roulette system.
