I agree -- in terms of pure technical ability, whoever wins Tuesday's semifinal match should be regarded as the world champions.

But, life as you know is not fair.

In fact, sometimes life can be downright unjust (and I am NOT just talking about what happens to most people's bank rolls at the roulette table).

If Tiny Little Ingerland's Olympic gold-winning diving team stretches its muscles and starts diving in the opposing penalty box, then get ready for ...... Tiny Little Ingerland as the world champions.

I think we have seen a change in the guard at this World Cup.

No Italy....no Netherlands. A poor Argentinian, Spain and German team.

Is there really any difference at the moment between the top half a dozen or so teams in the world.

I don't know what it is, but it feels like something has changed and the aura of these great and invincible giants like Brazil and Germany is no longer there.
