Newton was very big into the alchemy and we know tesla was fascinated by the mysticism.

There is another realm by which to aquire knowledge.

Tesla quote:

The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.

Tesla did claim to be in contact with aliens, but said he got ideas in his head, and developed them with visions. He said he perfected designs mentally before building.

I believe he got inspiration from nature he observed, as many inventors do. But did his ideas come from some sort of divine realm? Maybe. It doesn't need to have come from there though.

It's more balanced to say nature is always the teacher. He likely would have at least partially developed ideas from his connection, which we all have to varying degrees. Many inventors claim to be in touch with invisible forces. I dont doubt its real. We all do it every day without realizing it. We both learn things from local observation, and get hints from our connection.
