To anyone who is interested, this is how visual ballistics works in a nutshell...well, I have to say this is how I do it, as I have never taken a lesson from anyone...I discovered this on my own and spent years developing my method.
Just a few of the major factors which influence the ball drop are as follows: type of wheel, depth of the ball track, angle of slope to the number ring, canoes, the size and weight of the ball being used, depth of the frets, the overall size of the wheel(circumference), and of course lets not forget the dealer.
The two main factors besides the make of the wheel itself, are going to be the speed of the wheel and the speed of the ball from spin to spin. These two factors are the variables. The others I mentioned are constants, they do not  change. The variables are going to determine the result.
First of all, the bigger the wheel, the better. The more room the ball has to slow and begin to roll and not skid the better. The shallower the angle of decent from the ball track to the numbers, the better. The slower the wheel speed the better. The heavier the ball the better as well. This being said, deeper frets and pockets are also ideal. You want a wheel which displays what I call a "manageable scatter." Youre prediction is going to include two parts: The ball drop, and the scatter.
The ball drop is where you predict the ball to drop out of the track and into the numbers. This is easily determined by measuring the speeds of  the wheel and the ball rotation. Next, you have to account for ball scatter...this is done by measuring the average ball scatter of the wheel and adding these number of pockets to your predicted drop point. Of course, there are certain things which can make this a whole lot easier.
As mentioned earlier, the variables in the game are the wheel and ball speeds, however, using dealer signature, you can turn these into constants...atleast temporarily. Here is how you do it:
You have to choose a dealer who spins the ball the same speed consistantely. By this I mean not only speed, but one who releases the ball from the same point each time as well. Next, you want a dealer who maintaines a constant wheel speed throughout the majority of the session. Many dealers will spin the wheel each time they spin the ball....they will speed it up or slow it down each spin. They do this because this is what we are taught to do, in order to make it more difficult to clock the wheel, however, many dealers will not follow this protocol for one reason or another, and these are the dealers you want to play. Choosing your dealer is just as important as choosing your wheel.
An important note here is that some wheels spin much longer than others before slowing down noticeably. These are ideal as the dealer will not feel the urge to push the wheel between ball spins.
If you can find a dealer who maintains consistant wheel and ball speeds, then you have temporarily turned two important variables into constants...this means less work for you.
Now, instead of clocking the speeds of each, you will only need to worry about what orientation the numbered ring is in when the ball is launched, and you will only need to measure deceleration.
Measuring the deceleration of the ball is done using reference points on the wheels. The canoes provide very good reference points. Once the deceleration is measured, you will have your prediction.
This is important: when measuring deceleration, if you already know the speed of the wheel, then your prediction will be made nearly twice as fast. Less ball rotations to determine your drop point means more time for you to bet.
Determining drop point is only half of the equation, you now have to place your bets before the board is waived off. This is why I love playing as a team, as each member needs only place 2 to 3 bets and the combined wager of all the members quickly covers the area you wish to cover. Very fast. However, there are other ways to bet very quickly while playing solo.
The speed at which you place your bets will have a direct impact on your success. Each chip you place within the predicted landing zone will further increase the odds in your favor. You will decrease the house edge dramatically by simply placing one bet in this area.
I like to bet wheel zones, based on pocket prediction. Whichever pocket I determine the ball will land in after adding ball scatter, I bet a zone around that pocket, with the pocket being in the middle of that zone. I like 9 numbers, it works well for me, but like I said....any bet inside of this zone is going to provide a huge edge for the player.
betting speed and money management are very important factors in becoming profitable, equally as important as the accuracy of your predictions....so dont rule this out.
I also like to study a wheel and develop what I call a "map." This describes a combination of reference points leading to a very specific drop zone which automatically encompasses ball scatter. In fact, wheel mapping automatically takes into account every variable earlier mentioned, including wheel and ball speed. Creating a map is a bit time consuming and detailed, but very simple, and the result is extremely effective.
Once a map is created for a wheel, it is good for that wheel and that wheel alone for weeks. After a while a new map will need to be created, but each time you map the wheel, you create a huge advantage. A wheel map can be referenced and a very accurate prediction can be had within seconds of the ball release. This provides you with optimal time to place your bets. It is a sort of wheel clocking on autopilot.
I also use a special bet placement technique on live wheels which I created from my experience as a dealer which I call "pinch betting." This method allows you to cover wheel zones extremely fast. Once you master this technique, you will never run out of time again.
The last factor one must take into account which WILL make or break any system is this....keep the dealer on your side.
You have to TIP. A happy dealer means a happy player, and you will not have to worry about little things like being cut off mid bet. I have destroyed many a player in my time for not tipping properly. This is how dealers make their money in many casinos, and it can benefit you more than you realize.
