Denial of gamblers fallacy is usually seen in people who has Roulette as last option for a way to wealth, debt covering and a independent lifestyle.  Next step is pretty ugly-
AP - It's not that it can't be done, but rather people don't really have a clue as to the level of fanaticism and outright obsession that it takes to be successful, let alone get to the level where you can take money out of the casinos on a regular basis. Out of 1,000 people that earnestly try, maybe only one will make it.

Ego,  I was reminded of this post after reading your PM.  Yes, it was based on the Magic 5 idea.  The results were pretty good if I remember correctly.  It's another one of those systems that got over-shadowed by some new system someone like Fender posts and everyone runs over to it because of fantastic claims by the author.  By the time they realize they've been wasting their time, they've forgotten about the system they left in the dust.

We were trying to create some set parameters for playing the system mechanically, but we could never come up with a solid set of rules.
In my case it doesn't matter.  I'm both!

Great post. Still reading you avidly from when your avatar was a kid peering through a ripped sheet of paper :)

@George and all ... one conclusion i made after study Marigny ... is the following ...

Lets say i see some events grow ,,, exampel singles ... i have singles contra series ...
Then the first thing i do is to wait for them stop growing stronger ... this means they will end with one serie ...

But i can not play now for correction as correction is not present ,,, this means that if i would bet now then i would chasing for correction or for the other events to show (series).
This is indication one ,,, when certain events stop growing ,,, then i know it might be the end of the sequense but i can not be sure because the singles can continue to come.

Now lets say i get two series, then i have a draw-down and correction present, now i can bet for correction as it is happening.
This means i can only play after i have a win.
This is indication two ,,, where you only can bet after a fictive win when correction is happening and are present.

I test this and the LW-Registy look like this: WWWLWLLWWWLLWW

The significant point is that we need to base our selection upon math and probability.
Waves comes in windows of events.
Each window start with one event being overrepresented and one event being underrepresented.

We need a reference to build our assumption upon, for example the following.
14 overrepresented events contra 2 underrepresented events is 3.0 STD
It is a window of 16 events.

Lets say you split that window into half.
Then you get 7 overrepresented events.
Then you can wait for two underrepresented events to show.
After that bet it will continue to show underrepresented events.
As you would aviod a window of 3.0 STD and aim for regression to the mean to become present.

But lets say you get 7 overrepresented events and they continue to grow up to 14 ... then you would not bet as you don't have two underrepresented events present.
You don't have a fictive win or regression towards the mean, so there would be no bets.
This way you would bet against different windows of events with different size.
And you would bet for regression towards the mean after 1.0 2.0 3.0 4.0 STD.

This is how you get both mechanical and non mechanical play ... as the later one indicate for tendency play.

I like this very much.
Is not every day you have a discussion about flat betting.

I have the point and figure charting PDF and will attach the file to this topic.
I also have the Magic Five system wish this topic is based upon.
Let me know if some one wants a copy.

Magic five system? What is that about? Is it differente from other systems?

This system is special because it attempt flat betting.
How many systems do you see exist that try to flat betting, i can tell you not many.

I am not saying this is the holy grail, but is a good system that try to flat betting and we can learn from that kind of methodology.

I'm sorry I switched that avatar.  I've learned that switching avatars confuses members when they get to know you by your avatar more than your name.  Somehow, I deleted that picture from my computer and can't find it on the internet again.  If I could, I would go back to it.  I found another copy of it, but it's too big to post as an avatar on this forum.

Consider your avatar, you're not Turner, your the calm, peaceful looking "Buddha".

Thanks for the reply. It looks interesting, I don't know of many flat betting systems. I tried to look it here on the forum , but I dont see it anywhere. I imagine this must have some kind of bet selection, if no progressions are used... what is the betselection of it? Can I take a look at the method?

I to like flat betting systems very much and look for them all the time.  While trolling through this forum and VLS forum a few days ago I stumbled across an old system posted in 2008 that was all about flat betting.  TCS and a few others tested it for a while, but dropped it for some reason I cannot fathom from the threads.  It has to be one of the simplest systems I have ever encountered and bets just one number every spin.

At the moment I am running all of the 2010 Spielbank Wiesbaden spins for Table 2 through it and so far for the months of January and February it is still in +ve flat betting after nearly 8000 spins.  Time will tell how it goes over the whole year.

Thanks for the hard work.

Maybe you could post a reply with the link to the system on VLS and we could revive it.

It is amazing how many times a really good system is just abandoned when it is still proving to be a strong way to play.  I know how it happens but it's amazing anyway.  I confess that I'm guilty of it as well.  That's human nature, I'm afraid.
