I have spent a lot of time trying to come up with the perfect bet selection method for even chances.  I have finally found one that I think is the cream of the crop.
We are going to bet on streaks, chops and doubles with separate banks.
If we get 2 in a row which is a double, we bet for doubles to continue with our doubles bank.
If it goes to 3 in a row, we bet for the streak to continue with our streak bank.
As soon as the streak chops, we bet for the chops to continue with our chop bank.

Here are the patterns we will bet on with our separate banks.
RR or BB we bet for RRBBRRBB or BBRRBBRR.
If we get RRBR we bet for chops to continue or RRBRBRBR with our chops bank.
If we get RRR or BBB we bet for the streak to continue with our streak bank.

We can use any bet progression we like.  I will suggest the following one.
Start by betting 1 unit until you have lost 5 times more than you have won at the 1 unit level.
As soon as you lose 5 more times than you have won, you will have 5 lost units to recover. 
Start betting 2 units per spin until you have won 5 times at the 2 unit level.  This will have recovered the 5 units you are down at the 1 unit level plus put 5 units in your profit category.
While you are trying to recover the 1 unit losses, any time you lose betting 2 units, you write a 2 to the right of the 1 unit losses.  As soon as you recover the last 1 unit loss, you will start betting 3 units each spin to recover the 2 unit losses.  Each win will recover one 2 unit loss plus put 1 unit in your profit category.  Every time you lose while betting 3 units, write a 3 down to the right of your 2's.  When you have recovered each 2 unit lost bet, start betting 4 units to recover the 3 unit bets that were lost while recovering the 2 unit bets.  Continue in this manner until you have recovered all losses and are back to betting 1 unit until you lose 5 times more than you win.

Play each pattern with it's own bank.  This means that you will have 3 lines going.  The streak line will only win or lose when betting for streaks to continue.
The doubles will only win or lose when betting for doubles to continue.
The chops will only win or lose when betting for chops to continue.

If one of the patterns is doing very well, we can use a win in that pattern to recover a loss in a pattern that isn't doing so well.

Anytime we are at a new high in our over-all bankroll, we will start over at 1 on all 3 banks.

The obvious advantage to playing this way is that we can take advantage of any of the 3 basic patterns that are common to roulette (or baccarat, craps, etc...)

By having 3 different banks, we can keep our over-all bets much lower.

  Very interesting do you have an example or spredsheet that would give me a better idea of how to follow the betting pattern. I think I would have a real problem trying to follow and manage 3 different rows of betting without one.       Thks  GJ

I want to suggest a tweak to this system.  I suggest that we drop the betting for doubles and strictly bet for either streaks or chops.  This will help with the tracking. All we really have to do is keep track of the 2 bet lines.

The S's won 7 out of 12 so we never lost enough to get above betting 1 unit.  +2

The C's won 9 our of 14 so again we never lost enough times to get above betting 1 unit.  +4

The C bet line would have looked like this 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1

PS  Sorry the chart didn't line up so well, but you can recreate it simply enough.  The first two spins have no bets because we are using them to establish whether we are going to bet S or C.  After the 1st 2 spins everything should line up under each color.  As usual, the R's are sometimes translated as "are" but you should be able to interpret them.

You're right Wally.  Unfortunately, there's always something that will cause a potential long losing streak.  You can use the 3 patterns as suggested in the first post.  The problem with that is if there's a lot of doubles followed by singles then doubles then singles then you get whipsawed.  We are trying to keep our bets smaller by using multiple bet lines.  A good run on one of the 2 or 3 patterns will recover pretty well.

I have considered the bet selection method suggested by Maximum Advantage Roulette.  It starts with betting follow the last until you lose 2 bets in a row.  After we lose 2 bets in a row we switch to betting opposite the penultimate color.  This will catch doubles also.

We switch back to follow the last after only 1 loss when betting on opposite the penultimate.  If we lose the next bet on follow the last after switching back from opposite the penultimate, we immediately return to betting opposite the penultimate until we lose 1 time.

Anytime we lose betting opposite penultimate, we switch to follow the last.  We switch from follow the last to opposite penultimate after 2 losses.  Exception: switch from follow the last to opposite penultimate after 1 loss if it's the first bet after switching from opposite penultimate.

Betting this way, we will use 2 banks.  One for follow the last and the other for opposite penultimate.
We are hoping for one pattern to have a good enough win streak to recover for both banks.  I think this is better than betting differentially.

Betting Maximum Advantage Roulette System selection method.

We have 2 banks. 1 for follow the last and 1 for opposite penultimate

Red   Next bet is 1 unit on Red from follow the last bank.
Red   Win  +1.  Next bet is Red
Red    Win  +1.  Next bet is Red
Black    Lose  -1.   Next bet is Red
Black    Lose  -1.   2 losses in a row.  Next bet is opposite penultimate,  Red.
Red     Win  +1.   Next bet is opp pen.  Red
Black  Lose -1.  Bet follow the last because 1 loss in opp pen.  Black
Red  Lose -1.  Bet opp pen because lost the 1st bet after switching to follow the last, Red
Red  Lose -1.  Bet follow the last because always switch after 1 loss in opp pen.  Red
Red  Win  +1.  Bet follow the last.   Red
etc...

The bet lines are simple.  We can bet 1 unit until we lose then we go to 2 units to recover the 1 lost unit.  Every time we lose at 2 unit bets, we write a 2 down to be recovered after we finish recovering our 1 unit loss.  Once we recover our 1 unit loss, we can start betting 3 units to recover our 2 until losses.

A real safe way to play is to wait until you have lost 5 more bets at 1 unit than you have won before you start betting 2 units to recover.  You have to have a pretty bad run to get your bet size very high so most of the time you'll be betting 1 or 2 units.  Of course how many 2's you write down depends on how many losses betting at 2 units you have before you recover all the 1 unit losses.
The nice thing about this bet method is that you don't move to betting 3 units until you've recovered all your 1 unit losses and you don't start betting 4 units until you have recovered all your 2 unit losses.

As always, to keep our bets low, we reset both lines to 1 unit anytime we reach a new high.

I like to play this for streaks and chops.  I know that a series of doubles loses every spin until the doubles stop, but trying to compensate in some way opens us up to losses in other ways.  The best way to deal with doubles is to start betting for doubles after you get RRBB or BBRR or you could stop betting until the doubles stop and then resume betting streak or chop.

I have been testing this by betting the bet line where I have to lose 5 more 1 unit bets than I win before I can start betting 2 units to recover the 1 unit losses.  I am playing to +3 then stop for a few spins and play again.

I am incorporating MrJ's philosophy of winning 3 units per attack.  After a while, you can bet large enough units that 3 is a good days wage.

This bet method is a very stable method.  I know that it can get out of hand with a really bad series, but you can do things if your bets start getting larger than you want like splitting them in half and recovering over a longer period.
