paul, this is a situation that's very close to me right now. not myself personally, but close members of my family.
you have not only my very best wishes for a speedy recovery, but my total empathy too.
keep strong, you won't always feel like doing so, but keep strong and try to remain positive.
i'm sure you already are positive, but it's truly amazing what positive thinking can do mate.
there's already a load of positive vibes coming from this very board.

I know that going through your situation can be a little scary and your mind can imagine all sorts of bad scenarios but trust me, it is best to imagine good things. I would suggest planning what you want to do after the worst is over. That will take your mind off from things and give you an exciting plan once you're around and kickin' it again.

I know personally from dealing with family members that this can be a grueling process. Stay strong buddy. You have to remember that the treatment is to help you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers for the days/weeks/months to come
