Martingale Betting System

The concept of martingale in probability theory was introduced by Paul Pierre Lévy, (a French mathematician) and much of the original development of the theory was done by Joseph Leo Doob (an American mathematician, specializing in analysis and probability theory) among others. Originally, martingale referred to a class of betting strategies that was popular in the 18th century France. Among Roulette systems, the Martingale betting system is the most famous one. It is a standard negative progression method. The System is also called the doubling-up system or Gamblers Fallacy among experts.

The strategy implies the following: you double your bet in case of loosing, so that, when you finally win, your earnings will return all your previous losses. With this Roulette strategy, you will return to your original bet and begin again. In Roulette the best types of bets to use with the Martingale Roulette system are outside bets such as red or black, odd or even and the high or low bet.

The strategy aims to recover your loss at the first winning point, and even add a little bit on top. It is therefore a good example of a Taleb distribution â€" the gambler usually wins a small net reward, thus appearing to have a sound strategy. However, nobody has unlimited funds and there is a maximum limit on all casinos. It is widely believed that casinos instituted betting limits specifically to stop Martingale players, but in reality the assumptions behind the strategy are unsound.

• Fibonacci Betting System

The Fibonacci system is less aggressive than Martingale system discussed above. It is based on the Fibonacci Sequence, developed by the Italian mathematician Leonardo Pisano Bigollo, also known as Leonardo of Pisa, Leonardo Pisano, Leonardo Fibonacci, or simply “the most talented western mathematician of the Middle Ages” (a period of European history from the 5th century to the 15th century).

The Fibonacci sequence goes as follows: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144 and so on. As you probably have figured out, each following number is the sum of previous two, while the first two numbers are 0 and 1. This famous sequence goes all the way back to the 12th century and has a peculiar habit of showing up in completely unrelated areas of life such as architecture, music and biology- as it’s even said that rabbits breed according to this sequence.

The next number in the sequence represents the size of the next bet. For example, the next bet will be 1 unit. If you lose again, then the next bet will be 2 units. When you win, you will cross out the last two numbers in the sequence. The sequence is finished when all the numbers are crossed out. The good thing about playing with Fibonacci strategy is that it gives you an accumulated win as a result. However, again it will not earn you a profit in the long run. Eventually, a row long enough to wipe you out will appear.

• Labouchere Betting System

The Labouchere betting system is another popular approach used in Roulette and other casino games. It is also known as cancellation or positive progression system which resembles the Martingale method but is less risky and will probably not reach the table limit too quickly. The invention of the Labouchere system is believed to be connected with British politician Henry Labouchere, minister of finance of Queen Victoria, who was fond of gambling.

In this betting system, a player writes down a sequence of numbers according to the size of the bet. The very first bet will be the sum of the first and last numbers in the sequence. If the bet wins, the two numbers are excluded from the sequence. The next bet will be the sum of the numbers that are now the first and last ones. If the bet wins, the player goes on excluding the numbers and when the whole sequence is completed the player starts all over again with the same line of numbers. Every time the player loses the bet he adds the number of his first bet to the end of the sequence. For example, this sequence is:

1 â€" 2 - 3 â€" 4 â€" 5 â€" 5 â€" 4 â€" 3 â€" 3 â€" 2 -the very first bet in the Roulette cycle will be the sum of the first and last numbers in the sequence above: 1+2=3. If the bet wins, these two numbers are excluded from the sequence. The next bet will be the sum of the numbers that are now the first and last ones: 2+3=5. If there is a winning streak, the player continues crossing out the numbers and when the whole sequence is completed the player starts all over again with the same line of numbers (or it can be changed).

Every time the player loses the bet he adds the number of his first bet to the end of the sequence, in this case it will look like this (if the first bet is a losing one):

The sequence of the numbers the player can choose is whatever he wants. However, you must remember that the longer the line and the bigger the numbers, the more aggressive the Roulette gameplay is.

• Andruchi Betting System

Well, according to the Andruchi Roulette system, lucky numbers do exist, and the idea of the system is to identify them. On contrary of to Labouchere system, which tells us to bet specifically, the Andruchi system is based on the law of the third. It says that for every 36 Roulette spins only 24 numbers come up on average, while other 12 numbers won’t. We do not take into account zero and double zero. It means that the same numbers might come up several times.

Chaotic pattern is another name for the algorithm used in the system. Additionally, this is probably the only system out of many that goes for the bet with the thinnest winning odds, the straight up bet. Many Roulette players consider the straight out bet as one of the worst bets in the casino, but since it pays 35 to 1, the appeal of the Andruchi betting system can be easily understood.

• Oscar’s Grind

Allan Wilson first wrote about this system in his book “The Casino Gambler’s Guide” from 1965. He met a gambler, named Oscar, who showed him detailed records of his winning system. The records showed humble but steady profit.

This system is the most conservative and least volatile of all of the systems presented here. Oscar’s Grind is a progressive betting system you use on even bets. This system is based on cycles, where the player profits 1 betting unit at the end of each cycle.

Oscar’s Grind System will win one unit of profit per series of bets. To start playing you bet one unit. If you win, bet one unit again. When you lose, a series starts and you bet one unit a second time. Never increase the size of your bet after a loss, but every time you win increase your bet by one unit. However, any time if a bet would win and earn you more than one unit on the series, reduce your bet so that if it won, you would only win one unit. Although that sounds complicated, it’s not at all and can be easily understood and memorized.

• Double Street Betting System

Like the name implies, this strategy involves the wagers on double streets along with a straight up number and the betting on a corner or quad. The “Double Street Quad Strategy” covers the betting of 17 numbers out from the 35 numbers for single-zero’s wheel. With “Double Street Quad Strategy”, you are wagering 6 chips per spin that involve 2 chips on each of the double streets bet and one chip on the corner and straight number bets.

So Thus, you will be wagering six chips per spin and will put two chips on each of the double streets and one chip on the corner bet and straight number. You can select your favorite numbers to play straight up. So, you are betting a total of 6 chips on 17 numbers, which cover nearly 50% of the numbers on the wheel. This strategy is not designed for large winnings but for small sums of cash. Also you are winning really slow but having good time and extending your time at the table.

• Dopey Experiment

Dopey Experiment definitely is an experiment with its content, as the name dictates. This betting system was formulated by Andres Martinez, a former editor of the Los Angeles Times. the name suggests that this particular way of betting is not meant to be taken as a serious betting strategy, and true to its name, it was meant purely as a “for fun” kind of betting strategy. However, basically because a player uses the dopey experiment to bet does not promise that they will lose money; neither does it lead a player to lose.

The idea is to divide one’s roulette session bankroll into 35 units. These units are bet on a particular number for 35 consecutive spins. If the number is draw during these spins, the player makes a profit and can repeat the system.

Thanks for this. For someone will be interesting I am sure. But the last two sentences are not quite correct. Or at least they are correct considering some conditions. We all know he was great mathematician, but mathematic is one of roulettes strongest points, so only that you can't  use that against him. How something heavier than air can fly? Plane of 100 tons in the air? Or ship made of pure steel, with 50 tons of cargo floating on the water and still can whitstand good storm on the sea without being sunk?  How can we beat roulette? Thinking outside the box is answer on that question, my modest opinion.  If he visited casinos more often and played this game for some time, using all his intelligence, I am sure he would be great player!    :LoL:
