Odds and payouts are different things. If either the odds or payouts don't change, then the result is the same - eventual loss.

Another progression for Even Chance

I will give you the progression and then I'll explain how to use it.

1
2
3
----
5
9
15
26
45
76
130
222

Continue betting 1 unit until you lose.
Once you lose move to 2 units.  If you win you are +1.  Drop back to 1 unit.
If you lose the 2 unit bet, you will be down 3 units.
Bet 3 units.  If you win you will be even so reset to 1.
If you lose the 3 unit bet you will be down 6 units and you begin the real power of this progression.

Starting from the 5 unit bet, we will need to Win-Win or Win-Lose-Win or Win-Lose-Lose-Win to cause us to reset.  Not all reset happen after a plus total.  Some will happen after getting back very close the even.

We bet the 5 unit bet and if we lose it we move to the 9 unit bet and we are 11 units down.

If we win the 5 unit bet, we next drop back 1 step and bet the 3 unit bet.  If we win the 3 unit bet we will have won 8 units minus the 6 units we were down for +2.  Reset to 1.

If we win the 5 unit bet and we lose the 3 unit bet, we again bet the 5 unit bet.  If we win the second 5 unit bet we will be +1.  That's 5-3+5=+7-6=+1.  Reset to 1 unit.

If we win the 5 unit bet and lose the 3 unit bet and the second 5 unit bet, we will lose 3 units.
+5-3-5=-3+11=-14.  In this case, this bet sequence one more time.  If you win, reset to 1 unit.  If you lose move on to the 9 unit bet.

Let's say we lose the 1st 5 unit  bet and are down 11 units.  Our next bet is 9 units.
If we win the 9 unit bet and win the 5 unit bet we will reset to 1.

If we win the 9 unit bet and lose the 5 unit bet and win the second 9 unit bet we will reset to 1.

We should consider the negative results followed by a reset to 1 unit as a tax we pay under certain conditions.  We will make up for it when we Win-Win, i.e. 2 wins in a row which nets us extra units over the Win-Lose-Win.

If we lost 11 times in a row, we would lose 534 units.  As with all these progressions, you can use fewer steps to cut down on the loss amount on a busted progression or you can extend the progression adding more steps if you have to funds.

Please note that this progression as with all progressions will lose occasionally.   This progression is  less risky than a martingale but climbs at a higher pace than a fibonacci.

Test it.  You might find it useful.

I know this can be a little confusing, if anyone is really interested in this idea, ask questions and I will be happy to answer them.

A couple of examples.  I will be betting Red each time.

Spin       Bet          W/L          Total
R            1              W             +1         Reset
B            1              L                -1
B            2              L                -3
R            3              W               0         Reset
B            1              L                -1
B            2              L                -3
B            3              L                -6
0            5              L                -11
R            9              W              -2
R            5              W              +3        Reset
B            1              L                -1
B            2              L                -3
B            3              L                -6
B            5              L                -11
R            9              W              -2
B            5              L                -7
R            9              W              +2       Reset
B            1              L                -1
B            2              L                -3
B            3              L                -6
B            5              L                -11
R            9              W               -2
B            5              L                -7
B            9              L                -16
R            15            W               -1      Reset

Etc...Etc...Etc...

As you can see, there are other conscious decision you can make as you go along.

Also note that we ended at +5 after 25 spins with 8 Wins and 17 Losses.

That means we won 5 units with 32% wins vs 68% losses.  That's a pretty good wins to losses ratio.

The idea may be formidable against a bank like the one suggested by our friend Winkel.

For most of us this may not be playable, but for some, it might be worth looking at.

A suggested progression is to bet Follow-The-Last until you have 3 losses in a row and then switch to Opposite-The-Last until you have 3 losses in a row then back to FTL until 3 losses and then back to OTL until 3 losses in a row, etc.....

Yes! I though of exactly that bet selection as an improvement on the malcop one I have been using. Streak chop chop streak is too costly, one get in a rut easily.
